Who Showed Up For Oprah Farewell Spectacular?

“Packed to the rafters.”  That’s how some are describing the scene at Chicago’s United Center tonight where hordes of fans showed up for a star-studded farewell bash for the Queen of Talk, Oprah Winfrey.  Wearing a glittery purple gown, Usmagazine.com says “Lady O” took to the stage to greet fans after 7:00 pm local time while The Black Eyed Peas’ song “I Gotta Feeling” pumped out of speakers in the background.  The night’s first celebrity guest, Oscar winner Tom Hanks, said “Oprah Winfrey, today, you are surrounded by nothing but love.”  Hanks then introduced Hollywood star Tom Cruise to the stage, and Madonna called Oprah an inspiration and a “role model” in a moving speech to the beloved talk show host.  Patti LaBelle, Josh Groban and “America’s Got Talent’s” Jackie Evancho were among the first performers of the night.

Highlights of “Surprise Oprah! A Farewell Spectacular” will air in two parts on May 23rd and May 24th, just ahead of the final episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” scheduled to air on May 25th.
