A warrant is out for rapper Lil Wayne’s arrest in Yuma, Arizona.

The only problem is he’s holed up in a jail in New York.

According to the YumaSun.com, Yuma Superior Court Judge Mark Wayne Reeves issued a bench warrant for the rap star Tuesday morning after Lil Wayne failed to show up for a final trial management conference.

The rapper, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, is facing drug possession and weapons charges in Yuma following an arrest at a border checkpoint in January 2008.  Lil Wayne’s Yuma attorney, James Tilson, told the court that his client was unable to appear before the court because is currently serving a year-long jail sentence in New York City on weapons charges.

Tilson also told the court that he had filed motions to have Wayne’s March 30th trial date vacated and asked that the rapper be allowed to appear in Yuma on his own when he finishes his jail sentence.

Noting Lil Wayne’s status as a convicted felon, prosecutors argued for the bench warrant and an increase in bond to 150-thousand-dollars.  Once a bench warrant is issued, law enforcement has the authority to pick up the subject of the warrant and bring him to court to address the charges.
