Drake is opening up about the cancellation of his Tuesday night concert in New York City.  The emcee tells AllHipHop.com that he’s thankful for his passionate fan base, and regrets not being able to give them a great show.  He remarks, quote, “I love performing for my fans but unfortunately the show was canceled by the NYPD due to overcrowding, leaving me without the chance to give my fans a real show.”  “Drizzy” adds, quote, “I’m thankful for the support that the fans have been giving me.  I thank you now.”  Drake and pop trio Hanson were scheduled to perform in lower Manhattan Tuesday evening.  New York police were forced to cancel the show, however, when more than 25-thousand people showed up.  Concert organizer Paper Magazine was expecting a crowd of about half that size.

A near riot broke out following the cancellation of the show, with chairs reportedly being thrown into the crowd.  Two people were charged with disorderly conduct, while six were treated for minor injuries.  Drake’s Tuesday concert was to coincide with the release of his debut album, “Thank Me Later,” which arrived in stores earlier that day.
