The troubled rap superstar has finally caught a break.

Troubled rap superstar T.I. has finally caught a break.  TMZ.com is reporting that the emcee will not face charges in Los Angeles for his arrest last month on drug charges.

The L.A. County District Attorney’s Office has decided to drop the case because T.I. has already been sentenced to eleven months in prison for violating his probation.

Legal sources tell TMZ, however, that there may have been a few legal issues regarding T.I.’s arrest.  Authorities searched T.I.’s car claiming they smelled marijuana, but the drug was never booked into evidence.  Insiders say T.I. was also pulled from his Maybach before the cops ever conducted a registration check.  Despite the possible violations, T.I.’s attorney says he’s pleased with the District Attorney’s handling of the case.  Steve Sadow tells E! News, quote, “The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office’s decision to reject T.I.’s case was the right thing to do under the circumstances.”

T.I. was stopped by Los Angeles police on September 1st after his vehicle allegedly made an illegal U-turn.

Authorities reportedly smelled marijuana in the car and subsequently found a small amount of the drug ecstasy.  T.I. and his wife, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, were booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.  The rapper was on probation at the time for his 2007 arrest on weapons charges.  Earlier this month, he was sentenced to eleven months behind bars for violating his probation.

He’s expected to begin serving his sentence by the end of the month.
