Ja Rule was in court on today where he pleaded guilty to three counts of failing to file tax returns with the IRS.  You think he would know to pay Uncle Sam first. You know he is still getting those royalty checks in the mail!

Documents filed in Newark, New Jersey federal court reveal that from 2004 to 2008 Ja failed to pay taxes owed for music royalties, touring, and other income generated from his company, Rule Tours Inc.  All together, Ja Rule owes the government more than one-point-one-million-dollars, which he has promised to pay back with penalties as part of his plea agreement.  Ja is now facing one year in prison for each count, and is due back in court on June 13th for sentencing.

Unfortunately, Ja Rule may have a hard time making his next court appearance as he is scheduled to begin a two-year prison sentence on weapons charges on June 8th.  The emcee was arrested in 2007 after police found a semi-automatic handgun in his car.  He has since pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon.  There is no word on how his sentence on weapons charges may impact the sentencing in his tax case.
