Ja Rule has surrendered to authorities to begin serving a two-year sentence on weapons charges.  Ja spent his final few hours as a free man enjoying some quality time with his family.  The emcee sent out a tweet on Tuesday afternoon saying he was going to see the film “X-Men: First Class” with his kids.  Ja Rule’s legal problems began in 2007 when police in New York found a handgun in his car.  He went on to plead guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon late last year.

Ja was hoping to release a new album called “Pain Is Love 2” this week, but was forced to delay the record after he missed his deadline.  He says the record will be dropping sometime this summer.  Ja Rule supporters can also look forward to a tour when he’s released from prison.  He has previously stated that he wants to launch the “40 Days/40 Nights Around The World” tour once he rejoins the free world.

Unfortunately, Ja Rule could be in for some more bad news on the legal front next week.  He pleaded guilty back in March to three counts of failing to file tax returns with the IRS.  He will be sentenced on Monday, and could face up to a year in prison for each count.
