Sony Music Entertainment has obtained a temporary restraining order against a man who allegedly threatened to shoot R&B singer Ne-Yo and top ranking execs at Sony Music. 

Sony claims Jeff Choi had sent hundreds of threatening emails, made dozens of angry phone calls and even went down to the Sony offices to complain about the music company releasing several songs ABOUT HIM with his permission. Once Choi was escorted out of the building after he becoming belligerent. 
 

Court documents state that, Choi believes Ne-Yo, Sony’s Chief Creative Officer Clive Davis and Sony CFO Kevin Kelleher are all to blame and made threats to “shoot people in the head” unless Sony pays him $800,000.

After Sony Music contacted the FBIwhich conducted its own investigation, decided to detain Choi for a psychiatric evaluation in August. He was taken to a mental health facility, where he continued to phone in threats to Sony execs.  

The FBI and federal prosecutors are now deciding to prosecute Choi for the threats. Sony filed for the restraining order fearing that Choi would make good on his threats when/if he is released from custody. 

The courts will determine whether to extend the restraining order on Sept. 28.
