A$AP Rocky is doing something that very few rappers have done before.
He has a solid fan base and sold out an entire tour without even releasing an official album! His Live.Love.A$AP mixtape was so critically acclaimed, that it earned him a $3 million deal before most people had even heard it.
Some say that Rocky has so much of a following, he’s even become a style icon. Not only are his fans dressing like him, but he believes that he has influenced one particular iconic rapper…
In the December/January 2013 issue of Complex Magazine, when asked whether or not Rocky believes he’s sartorially influenced Kanye West, Rocky responds:
Of course. That’s obvious. [Laughs.] We’re all in the same circle. He’s way richer than me, but of course he’s influenced by me. C’mon, bro. I made waxed denim cool in hip-hop. F#$%ing waxed denim and rips in jeans. Nobody else did that. I don’t give a f*&%. I didn’t know what I was doing. These jeans are Balmain, and I wear them with a Supreme jacket. Of course I’m influencing.
We all know that Rocky is a very confident person, so saying that he influenced Kanye doesn’t surprise us as much as who he says he’d like to collaborate with musically:
If I tell you, you going to be like, “What the f#%* is wrong with this n*&%$?” I really want to work with MGMT, man.
The 24-year-old Harlem rapper touched on a long list of topics, including his relationship with SpaceGhostPurrp, keeping it real, and A$AP Ferg being the next member in the A$AP Mob to make it.
