Dallas Cowboys v Carolina Panthers

Former Dallas Cowboy Josh Brent verdict was reached on Wednesday — being found guilty of intoxication manslaughter.

He crashed his mercedes, and killed friend and teammate Jerry Brown driving while intoxicated in December 2012 .

His attorney tried to argue non-intoxication in Brent’s defense.

“[He’s] guilty of being stupid behind the wheel of a car,” his attorney George Milner said.

However, the prosecution brought to light his alcohol blood level was .189.

Brent sat alone while the verdict was read. His family was also present in the courtroom.

While Brent retired from the NFL last year, former teammate, Sean Lee, attended part of the trial to show support and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones showed support as well.

“Certainly it’s tragic. We’ve all, to some degree, have been a part of this,”Jones said on Tuesday, according to the Cowboys’ website. “We support Josh. This has been just a terrible experience for the families who lost a loved one and for Josh who loved Jerry as well.”

Prosecutors Jason Hermus and Heath Harris said this is a textbook intoxication manslaughter case and that the jury should make example the dangers of drunk driving.

They listened. He’s facing 20 years behind bars, but with the chance of probation as well.
