We’re all aware that police officers have radar guns to detect and ticket speedy drivers. Texting and driving is probably more dangerous since you’re not even looking at the road. One study states that texting and driving is actually 6 times more dangerous than driving while drunk!

Third party phone apps have been developed to prevent people from having the ability to text while drive. Regardless, people are still going to do it. Therefore, something else has to be done.

A Virginia-based company called ComSonics is developing a new type of radar gun that can actually detect whether text message radio frequencies are being emitted from passing cars.  ComSonics says the device is “close to production.”

All of this sounds like a good idea to keep drivers and passengers safe but how will they determine if the driver was texting when it could actually be the passenger? We’ll see what happens.

Indiana law does have a ban on texting for all drivers.  Simply put, don’t text and drive unless you want a fine or worse.
