Corey Jones’ final moments may have been recorded, revealing clues about the night he was shot by a Florida police officer after his car broke down on the side of the road, according to The Palm Beach Post.

Jones made several phone calls the night he was stranded on the I-95 highway on Oct. 18 before being confronted by officer Nouman Raja at 3:15 a.m. Raja, who was in plainclothes and without his badge, approached Jones and fired six times, killing him.

Jones’ body was found near his vehicle with a gun, which he purchased legally with a concealed carry permit.

Family lawyers confirmed he never fired his weapon.

Jones made five phone calls to #HELP, an AT&T service that provides customers with roadside assistance. Since the calls are routinely recorded, they may give the family answers about what exactly happened the night Jones died. The calls also overlap with others he made to his bandmate Mathew Huntsberger and brother C.J.

From The Palm Beach Post:

The first indication of car trouble came at 1:35 a.m., when he called band mate Mathew Huntsberger for help.

Starting at 2:09 a.m., Jones called the AT&T #HELP four times, spending about 36 minutes trying to get help.

Those calls were probably fruitless, however, since he called #HELP again, at 2:45 a.m., a call that the log says lasted 32 minutes, even though he dialed three other numbers after that call began.

The final call went to the help line at 3:10 a.m. and records show it wouldn’t have ended until 4:03 a.m., long after the 3:15 a.m. shooting.

In addition to his phone calls to AT&T, Jones also called the Florida Highway Patrol line for assistance. He was only on the line for about four minutes. The call hasn’t been obtained by investigators.

A friend of Jones’ told reporters the family has seen the calls and met with their legal team on Monday. They haven’t yet received Jones’ cell phone back from police.

Police have yet to confirm whether they are investigating the calls to AT&T.
