What a finish.

Serena Williams has had the quite the year. In all, the tennis star racked up 53 wins and five titles, including Wimbledon, the Australian Open, and French Open. Now, Sports Illustrated has named her its 2015 Sportsperson of the Year, and we can’t think of anyone more deserving.

Serena is the first woman to be honored on her own by SI in more than 30 years, and it’s also marked the switch of the award’s formal name: from Sportsman or Sportswoman to Sportsperson. The 34-year-old shared her excitement on Instagram following the announcement:

For @sportsillustrated to recognize my hard work, my dedication, and my sheer determination gives me hope to continue on and do better.

How fierce is that cover? We can’t wait to see what’s next for Serena in 2016. In her own words, she hints to the magazine of big things to come:

I’ve got some good news and some bad news. The good news is I dreamed about tennis last night. The bad news is everybody better watch out.

Congratulations!
