Evelyn Lozada stopped by with her beautiful daughter Shaniece Hairston and we talked about season 2 of her OWN show “Living Lozada”, her dealing with her second miscarriage and encouraging her daughter to go to counseling. We also talked about her new relationship with baseball player Carl Crawford.
On advice for women recovering after having a miscarriage:
“It’s not your fault, sometimes women feel responsible. It’s our job to give birth to healthy children to make sure we take care of our bodies and we eat the right things…. So it’s like “What did I do?” – but it’s gonna be okay, it’s more common than we think, women don’t really talk about it because they are either embarrassed or uncomfortable. After I opened up about it, I had friends telling me like “I miscarried too”, and I was like oh man!”
On her daughter Shaniece being affected by Evelyn’s past and going to therapy:
“My mom encouraged me to go to the therapy and I’m a very guarded person, I thought I just fine..but I went into therapy …and we basically came to the conclusion that the reason why I’m so guarded is that I learned from her mistakes and I’m trying so hard not to do them, that I close myself off from the world basically…so I do the opposite of what I’ve seen.”
