'22 Jump Street' New York Premiere - Outside Arrivals

Ice Cube is a hip-hop legend who has always moved outside the box.

According to reports, the rapper teamed up with VH1 to bring back the classic game show Hollywood Squares. The cable network partnered with Cube and his Cube Vision production company to put a hip-hop twist on one of TV’s longest-running game shows.

The new rendition of the popular show will feature celebrity contestants matching wits and testing their pop culture knowledge with the superstar squares, featuring the biggest names in hip-hop, comedy, and entertainment. Cube said in a statement:

“Hip Hop Squares is going to be fun and spontaneous; unlike typical game shows, viewers should never know what’s going to happen next. When VH1 asked us to join the producing team, we jumped aboard as we have had success with VH1, and we love their team, excitement and commitment to the show.”

Sources say the network has ordered at least 20 episodes. Hip Hop Squares is set to air this fall on VH1.
