Highly praised horseracing series Luck starring Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte has now been canceled after three horses died during filming.

The not-so-lucky cast and crew were slated for another eight months of the series, but after the unfortunate incident, the team announced the show has been discontinued.

Earlier this week, a horse was properly laid to rest during filming of the second season, after it was seriously injured from falling. Prior to this, two other horses died after injuries from races in the first season.
“While we maintained the highest safety standards possible, accidents unfortunately happen and it is impossible to guarantee they won’t in the future. Accordingly, we have reached this difficult decision,” the executive producers stated after the decision was made.
Fans of the show may be disappointed, but the safety of animals clearly takes precedence.
