Indystar.com Says Michael Chandler Says: “I wouldn’t say I’ve ‘decommitted,’ because that makes it sounds like a bad thing. But I’ve decided to open it up and look around again,” said Chandler, who averaged 14.5 points and 7.7 rebounds as a junior. “I wanted to look around a little bit before I made things final and signed my letter of intent.”

The 6-10 Chandler committed early in his sophomore season while still playing mostly on the junior varsity team and wasn’t recruited heavily after that.

“I’ve thought for a while that I should open it up again,” he said. “I’ve second-guessed myself a little bit. I don’t have a list yet of schools I’m looking at, but I think it will give me some more motivation to play harder this summer.”

Chandler said Louisville coaches told him they would continue to recruit him. He is ranked No. 10 nationally in the 2011 class by Rivals.com.

Chandler’s Lawrence North teammate, junior Ryan Taylor, remains committed to Louisville. Former Lawrence North player Stephan Van Treese was a freshman at Louisville last season.
