GRANT COUNTY, Ind. — One man is dead after what police in Grant County believe to be a road rage shooting.

It all started Sunday night between a driver in the car with his family and a semi-truck driver on I-69, says Grant County Sheriff Del Garcia on Facebook Live.

“What we know right now is that one of our local residents exited onto State Road 26 and was followed by the semi. The issues were between their two vehicles,” Sheriff Garcia said Monday. From there, Sheriff Garica says it appears the semi driver followed the man home, and an argument took place.

“From what we understand, our local resident had a laser-type pointed at him, which he believed to be a weapon, so he fired upon the semi, striking the driver,” said Garcia.

The semi then veered off road across several corn fields and caught on fire.

The driver had already died by the time fire fighters put the fire out.

It’s still unclear what led to the original situation on I-69. Police have not released any more information about either person involved. Sheriff Garcia says an update may come soon.
