Get ready for an epic halftime show at the Super Bowl because Kendrick Lamar is bringing SZA along for the ride!
The two stars will be taking over the stage at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9.
Kendrick and Apple Music dropped a teaser Thursday, showing Kendrick walking on the football field when SZA sneaks up from behind and splashes him with some playful water.
The duo, who have worked together on tracks like “Gloria” and “Luther” from Kendrick’s recent album GNX, are set to light up the stage.
SZA, Lamar’s former Top Dawg Entertainment labelmate, is no stranger to hits with Kendrick. Their past collaborations include the Oscar-nominated track “All the Stars” and “Doves in the Wind.”
The two artists are also hitting the road together this spring and summer for a 19-city North American tour. Kicking off on April 19 in Minneapolis, the tour will wrap up on June 18 in Washington, D.C.
As for the Grammy awards, SZA heads into the February 2 ceremony with two nominations for her single “Saturn” in the Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance categories.She’s already taken home four Grammys.
Kendrick, meanwhile, is up for seven nominations, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year for his track “Not Like Us,” and also for his collab with Future and Metro Boomin on “Like That.” He’s already won 17 Grammys.
Roc Nation and Emmy-winning producer Jesse Collins will co-executive produce the halftime show, while Lamar’s creative direction will be led by pgLang, the company he co-founded with Dave Free, who’s worked on Kendrick’s music videos.
Last year’s Super Bowl halftime show with Usher was a hit, featuring surprise guests like H.E.R., Jermaine Dupri, Lil Jon, Ludacris, and Alicia Keys. This year? It’s Kendrick and SZA’s turn to steal the spotlight!
