Wyclef Jean is giving fans a taste of his upcoming record, “The Haitian Experience,” with a new track he posted online.  The slow and somber tune is called “The Day After,” and focuses on the subject of rebuilding Jean’s home country of Haiti following the catastrophic earthquake that took place on January 12th.  The track is posted at Wyclef’s blog at WyclefJean.wordpress.com.  Last Monday marked six months since the quake, which Jean observed by issuing a call to action through various news outlets.  The musician is asking the Interim Haiti Recovery Commission to release 150-million-dollars in pledged funds over the next 90 days.  He says the money is desperately needed to fund public safety measures due to violence in vulnerable Haitian communities.

Jean says, quote, “I’m a warrior and can’t stand by quietly while promises aren’t kept.  I won’t ever surrender.  We’ve seen the situation and we’ve been listening to others on the ground.  It’s still bleak.  Rubble and collapsed buildings are everywhere.”  He continues to work on several charity initiatives through his non-profit organization, Yele Haiti.  Learn more at Yele.org.
