INDIANAPOLIS — A 35-year-old Indianapolis man was shot and killed during a robbery at a food stand on the city’s west side early Saturday, police said.
Armando Alvarado was one of several people held up at a mobile food stand in the 3700 block of Mission Drive just after midnight, said Sgt. Paul Thompson.
When Alvarado tried to run from the robbers — two men dressed in dark clothing — one of them shot him in the back, Thompson said.
Alvarado was transported to Wishard Memorial Hospital, where he died just before 1 a.m.
Police said one of the robbers was carrying a rifle.
