This past Friday (Feb. 14), Morehouse College celebrated its 158th anniversary!
Founded in 1867, Morehouse is the largest men’s liberal arts college in the United States, and it is ranked within the top 10 HBCUs in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report.
With its motto, “Et Facta Est Lux (And there was light),” Morehouse men have made significant contributions to our history. That especially rings true in the Entertainment world, with several award-winning filmmakers, actors, and musicians among the ranks of Morehouse’s prestigious alumni.

3. PJ Morton
GRAMMY-winning musician, solo artist, and one-time member of Maroon 5, known for hits “Say So” and “How Deep is Your Love.”
4. Byron Cage
Stellar Award-winning, GRAMMY-nominated gospel artist, known for the hits “The Presence of The Lord is Here” and “I Will Bless The Lord.”
5. Rockmund Dunbar
Actor best known for roles in Soul Food: The TV Series, Girlfriends, The Game, and 9-1-1.
6. Keith "Guru" Elam
Co-founder of legendary rap duo Gang Starr, best known for hits “Mass Appeal,” “Dwyck,” and “You Know My Steez.”
7. Fonzworth Bentley
Rapper, actor & media personality. Credits include Honey, Making The Band 2, From G’s to Gents, and Idlewild.
8. Brian Tyree Henry
Actor, best known as “Paper Boi” on FX’s Atlanta. Other credits include Eternals and If Beale Street Could Talk.
9. Bill Nunn
Actor best known for roles in Do The Right Thing, Mo’ Better Blues, New Jack City, and He Got Game.
10. John David Washington
Actor and former NFL player for the St. Louis Rams. Credits include BlacKkKlansman, Malcolm & Marie, Tenet, Ballers, and The Piano Lesson.
11. Saul Williams
Rapper, actor and poet. Acting credits include Lackawanna Blues and Girlfriends. Singles include “Black Stacey” and “The Flaw You Worship.”
