President Obama on Saturday announced an emergency declaration that would allocate $5 million in federal aid to assist Flint in the water crisis.
Gov. Rick Snyder requested the president declare a federal emergency on Thursday after nearly exhausting all efforts to prevent residents from cooking, drinking, and bathing using the lead-filled water.
The National Guard has been deployed to help distribute water bottles following the lead contamination of Flint, Michigan's drinking water.
