Ne-YO is diving into more acting work – because he made a bet with himself that he’d stick to singing if his big screen debut was an embarrassment.

The hitmaker admits he’s quite proud of his performance in new movie Battle: Los Angeles, in which he plays an alien-fighting soldier, and now he knows he’s got what it takes to be a movie star.

The So Sick singer says, “I told myself that if I sucked in this film I was gonna just stick to music but I think I did OK, so I think I can tackle something else.

“My dream job would be action and sci-fi and I’m a huge martial arts buff. I love martial arts films. I would want to do a quality martial arts film.

“What I mean by that is you watch a martial arts film and there’s a part that’s a little bit lacking. The action is always important but sometimes the story is a little ‘eh’ and the acting is a little ‘eh’, so I would want to do a martial arts film where you just pull all the great elements of film together and the action, the story and the acting is great.”

Ne-Yo doesn’t believe we’re alone in the universe.  The singer says people tend to focus on our own solar system, and forget that there are millions of other planets in outer space.

Ne-Yo fans will get to see the vocalist take on some of outer space’s other residents when he stars in the action, sci-fi flick “Battle: Los Angeles.”  The film, which opened this weekend, also stars Aaron Eckhart, Bridget Moynahan and Ramon Rodriguez.

NeYo talks to Black Sci-Fi.com about his star turn as an actor in two new movies coming soon. Watch the video interview here.
