Russell Simmons has rekindled his relationship with HBO and has partnered up with “Boyz N The Hood” director John Singleton to produce a new TV series, “Club Life: Miami.” The show will follow a reformed criminal who moves to South Beach and and gains a new lease on life as he embraces the youthful, vibrant and transgressive world.

Singleton will write and executive produce the project, Simmons will be co- executive producer. Interestingly enough, rapper 50 Cent is currently developing a series for Starz titled “Power” about a wealthy nightclub owner (Omari Hardwick) who leads a double life as a drug dealer.

Simmons also has another series in development with HBO, to be co-produced with “12 Years A Slave” director Steve McQueen. The untitled project centers on a young black man’s experience navigating New York’s high society.
