Run The Jewels To Begin 'Meow The Jewels' Soon

Killer Mike and El-P have their hands full for the new year as they plan on creating their next Run The Jewels project, Meow The Jewels. The effort, which began as a joke, is now a full-fledged project with backing from fans.

“In January, we begin constructing Meow The Jewels,” El-P said via Twitter. “Updates soon.”

Although the campaign began as a joke, fans donated more than $65,000 to the Kickstarter campaign to make Meow The Jewels. That surpassed the goal of the campaign by more than $20,000.

The Kickstarter site had the following statement on its page when it was launched: “We are raising $40k so our two favorite artists, Killer Mike and El-P, will remix Run The Jewels 2 with all cat sounds for the music.”

Just Blaze, Alchemist, Prince Paul and more producers are reportedly linked to the project. You can view two cat-filled videos about the project below and then listen to the group’s critically acclaimed 2014 album Run The Jewels 2 here.
