the-boy-next-doorIt’s been 15 years since the beautiful Jennifer Lopez famously cemented her double-threat status as an actress and singer by being the first performer to have the number one film (The Wedding Planner) and album (J. Lo) in the country simultaneously. She’s worked steadily since then and is always in the spotlight with new albums, movies, and her time as a judge on American Idol.

However, to start the yer 2015, Lopez stars in the thriller The Boy Next Door. In the movie, Lopez gets steamy with her handsome young neighbor (Ryan Guzman) after she separates from her cheating husband (John Corbett) of 18 years.  The charismatic 19-year-old befriends her and her teenage son (Ian Nelson), but when a harmless flirtation leads to a momentary lapse in judgment, a dangerous and violent obsession develops.  The film is directed by veteran helmer Rob Cohen and also stars Kristin Chenoweth.  Blumhouse Productions is producing with Smart Entertainment and Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions.

Well on Friday morning, Lopez took the time to speak with The Morning Heat and during their chat, Lopez discussed her role as producer, the appeal of the material and her character, her steamy sex scene with Ryan, the intent to make a fun popcorn thriller where audiences root for the main character and why it’s a win-win for everybody to be able to produce this kind of independent film.
