Nicki Minaj Sparks Buzz with Fiery Bars on Lil Wayne’s “Banned From NO” Remix
Nicki Minaj is back in full lyrical form, reuniting with longtime collaborator Lil Wayne for a surprise remix of “Banned From NO”—and she’s not holding back.
Released on June 11, just days after Wayne dropped his long-awaited album Tha Carter VI, the track has fans buzzing over Nicki’s unfiltered bars and high-profile name-drops.
Though many expected Minaj to appear on Tha Carter VI, her absence was noted—until now.
Her guest verse on the remix more than makes up for it, bringing the kind of clever, confrontational energy that has defined her career.
Nicki calls out a few familiar names in the track, including Hall of Fame tight end-turned-broadcaster Shannon Sharpe, rap mogul JAY-Z, and even the NFL itself. One standout line immediately caught attention: “If I send a pic of Shannon, you ain’t that Sharpe.”
The bar references a 2024 moment when Sharpe seemed to dismiss Minaj on his podcast. She later took to X (formerly Twitter) to remind fans—and Sharpe himself—that she hasn’t forgotten.
“Yeah ni**a, you thought I forgot that ‘Nicki who?’ sh*t you did? LMFAOOOOO j/k,” she posted, proving once again she doesn’t let shade slide easily.
Minaj also took a jab at the NFL and JAY-Z, seemingly in reference to the controversial decision to exclude Lil Wayne from the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show in his own hometown of New Orleans.
“NFL, fire some ni**as and then call us!” she rapped, calling out what many saw as a major snub.
This remix marks the first time Nicki and Wayne have teamed up since her Pink Friday 2 album in 2023, where they collaborated on “RNB.”
Promoting the new track on Instagram, Minaj posted nostalgic Young Money photos and praised Wayne as “the GOAT,” highlighting the deep respect and loyalty between the two artists.
Meanwhile, Tha Carter VI features an eclectic lineup, including Bono, Andrea Bocelli, Jelly Roll, MGK, and Wayne’s son Kameron Carter—showcasing the rapper’s range and ongoing influence in the game.
With “Banned From NO”, Nicki Minaj once again proves she’s still got the sharpest pen in the room—and she’s not afraid to use it.
