Broad Ripple Bar Owner Charged with Tax Fraud, Unlawful Proposition

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The owner of a Broad Ripple bar faces numerous charges after prosecutors say he failed to remit taxes over several years and failed to keep basic records open for examination.
Investigation into John Yaggi, owner of Connor’s Pub, started in 2023.
The Marion County prosecutor says multiple agencies began looking into the business practices of bars in Broad Ripple. During that time, detectives learned Yaggi “failed to keep basic financial records for several years.”
They also learned at some point, Yaggi solicited sexual favors from an employee in exchange for giving them better paying shifts.
n a release, Prosecutor Ryan Mears said Yaggi’s pattern of fraud and deceit harms the community.
“White collar crime is a priority of the Prosecutor’s Office because every business deserves an equal opportunity to compete. The allegations outlined are more than financial misconduct but a repeated pattern of fraud and deceit that harms the community.”
Yaggi has been charged with the following:
- 4 counts of failure to remit taxes held in trust
- 4 counts of failure to remit food and beverage tax
- 1 count of failure to keep records open for examination
- 1 count of making an unlawful proposition
No arrests have been made. A court date for Yaggi has not been set.
