Tyrese Haliburton Suffers Devastating Injury in Game 7 of the NBA Finals

In a heartbreaking moment for the Indiana Pacers and fans everywhere, star point guard Tyrese Haliburton went down with a serious leg injury during the first quarter of Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

With just under five minutes left in the quarter and the game tied at 16-16, Haliburton drove to the basket, planted awkwardly, and immediately collapsed to the floor.

The arena fell silent as he pounded the hardwood in pain, clutching his lower leg. Trainers rushed to his side, and he was eventually helped off the court — unable to put any weight on his right leg.

He did not return to the game.

Early indications point to a possible Achilles tendon injury, a devastating blow that could keep Haliburton sidelined for most, if not all, of the 2025–26 NBA season.

According to The New York Times, there is growing concern that it could be a full rupture, which typically requires surgery and a lengthy rehab.

The injury is especially concerning given that Haliburton had been playing through a lingering right calf strain throughout the series.

Many fans and analysts are now questioning whether the team’s push to keep him on the floor may have contributed to the more serious outcome.

The Pacers, already heavy underdogs against a 68-win Thunder team, struggled to regain momentum after losing their leader.

Though they battled bravely through the rest of the game, the Thunder pulled away in the second half and eventually sealed the win, 103-91, clinching their first-ever NBA title.

ESPN commentators noted how the loss of Haliburton not only changed the dynamic of the game but potentially altered the course of Indiana’s future.

While the Pacers’ incredible postseason run captured national attention, Haliburton’s injury casts a shadow over what had been a storybook season.
