Mack Maine Mourns Loss of His Son After Fatal Seizure: “Why My Child and Not Me?”

The hip-hop world is sending love and prayers to Mack Maine after the Young Money president revealed the heartbreaking news of his son’s sudden passing.

On July 28, the New Orleans native took to Instagram to share that his son, Isaiah—affectionately known as Zeke—passed away on July 16 after suffering a fatal seizure at his home in California. He was just 20 years old.

“Been trying to build up the strength to put up this post since last night, so bear with me,” Mack began.

“On July 16th I got a call that my son Isaiah passed away at his home in Cali from a seizure. I’m still in shock. Still trying to process it. Still confused. Still asking God why my child and not me?”

The pain in his words was raw and honest. While Mack Maine is known to the world as an executive, rapper, and longtime right-hand to Lil Wayne, in this moment, he was just a grieving father trying to understand the unimaginable.

He spoke lovingly about the bond he shared with Zeke. “Fatherhood was one of the greatest gifts life ever gave me,” he wrote. “You gave me purpose. You were the reason I got out the bed when everyone else hit snooze. Your smile was my SONshine. Your soul was pure. Your heart was golden.”

Despite the overwhelming grief, Mack says he’s trying to lean on his faith.

“I know I was his father here on Earth, but now he’s returned to be with our Father God in the spirit. He’s with his grandfather—my dad—and his grandmother. They loved him dearly.”

The tragedy hits even harder given the timing. July 28, the day Mack shared the post, is not only his birthday, but also marks two years since the passing of his own father. Now, it carries the weight of another devastating loss.

Zeke’s passing has shaken Mack’s circle and the hip-hop community.

Fellow artists like Nicki Minaj, 2 Chainz, Tyga, and Lauren London poured into the comments to send love and condolences.

“This can’t be real,” Nicki wrote. “You raised such an incredible young man. We love you.”

Even in grief, Mack ended his post with a message of strength and spiritual connection.

“I need you more than ever now, Zeke, to watch over me from the other side. You’re back with Bentley and Dip—two of your favorite souls. You’ll always be my Prince.”
