Man Shot and Killed at Indy Dollar Store

INDIANAPOLIS — A man was shot and killed Saturday evening at a Family Dollar on the north side of Indianapolis.
Officers were called to the store on Michigan Road just after 5:30 p.m. and found the man lying in the doorway with gunshot wounds. Medics tried to help but pronounced him dead at the scene.
Police believe the shooting started with a dispute between people who knew each other. It likely happened inside the store while it was open and filled with shoppers. No one else was hurt.
Several people who knew the man showed up after the shooting. IMPD’s victim assistance and chaplain teams responded to support the family.
Investigators say they do not believe there is any ongoing danger to the public. No arrests have been made, but Family Dollar is working with detectives.
Anyone with information is asked to call IMPD’s Homicide Office at 317-327-3475 or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477.
