Sunday night’s BET Awards has proven to be a big success.  BET has announced that a total of seven-point-four-million viewers tuned in, making the ceremony the number one cable awards show for the fifth consecutive year.  BET’s President of Music Programming and Specials, Stephen Hill, says the show’s success can be attributed to the numerous stars who stopped by.  He remarks, quote, “The number of viewers who tuned in to see the BET Awards ’10 is a testament to the all-star performances, artists and their music’s influence on our culture.”  Hosted by Queen Latifah, this year’s BET Awards featured a return to the stage for artists like Kanye West, T.I., and El DeBarge, as well as performances from Drake, Nicki Minaj, Diddy, Rick Ross and Ludacris.

R&B singer Chris Brown also made headlines during the ceremony, as he performed an emotional tribute to the late Michael Jackson.  Brown danced to Jackson’s hits “Billie Jean,” “Remember The Time,” and “Smooth Criminal,” but was crying too hard to sing the lyrics to “Man In The Mirror.”  The 2010 BET Awards will re-air Friday at 7:30 p.m. Eastern.
