“We grow, we prosper, we do some incredibly wonderful things for the community.
We call ourselves a family of stations.
The common denominator is ONE family because that’s the name of our corporation.
If we stick together, there is nothing we won’t accomplish.” –
Cathy Hughes, 1993

The 1990’s was a great decade for Radio One. During this time Catherine Hughes’ son Alfred Liggins III took over the company, taking it to new found heights.

During 1999 Radio One acquired several stations and also did their Initial Offering of Common Stock.

This new stock offering also brought on seven more stations in 5 different markets bringing the total number in the Radio One portfolio to 19 stations.
