RickRubin‘Yeezus’ may have beat out J. Cole’s ‘Born Sinner’ for the top spot on the Billboard 200 this week, but the album is already shaping up to be Kanye West’s most divisive release — for now, anyway.

In an in-depth interview with The Daily Beast, legendary producer and Def Jam co-founder Rick Rubin, who was drafted in at the last-minute to work on Kanye’s sixth solo LP, suggests there could be a ‘Yeezus’ sequel in the works.

“Initially, [Kanye] thought there were going to be 16 songs on the album. But that first day, before he even asked me to work on it, I said, “Maybe you should make it more concise.

Maybe this is two albums. Maybe this is just the first half,” recalled Rubin. “That was one of the first breakthroughs. Kanye was like, “That’s what I came here today to hear! It could be 10 songs!”

When asked about the possibility of a ‘Yeezus Part II,’ Rubin said there “might be.” Don’t you just love it when musicians leave you guessing like that?
