Many African-American stars have nabbed roles in Broadway productions, diversifying the realm of theater. Songstress Brandy is currently playing Roxie Hart in “Chicago” and now actor Taye Diggs will star as a transgender rocker in “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.” Diggs, taking the stage as Hedwig this summer, will become the first African-American actor to play the role in a major New York production. L.A. City to Increase Minimum Wage

The cries to raise the minimum wage have been heard in Los Angeles City. Yesterday, the L.A. City Council showed their support for a plan that would raise the wage to $15 per hour. They plan on increasing the hourly rate by 2020 for nearly 800,000 workers. L.A. is the largest city to implement a minimum wage hike. “Make no mistake,” said Councilman Paul Krekorian. “Today the city of Los Angeles, the second biggest city in the nation, is leading the nation.” Seattle, San Francisco, and Chicago have created similar plans. Segregation? Palestinians banned from Israeli buses

The issues between Palestinians and Israelis haven’t simmered down, and a new ban will only add fuel to the fire. According to a defense ministry official, Palestinians in the West Bank who travel to Israel for work will not be allowed to ride buses with Israelis on the way home. “Under a three-month pilot project, Palestinians who work in Israel will, starting Wednesday, need to return home by the same crossing without taking buses used by (Israeli) residents,” said the official. Read more.
