Al Sharpton shared compassionate words with the crowd about Feeney’s legacy. “Michael lived and left a proud legacy and never forgot who he was,” said Rev. Sharpton. “And whatever byline he had, it wasn’t the story of his life.” Feeney provided coverage for the New York Daily News; he also served as the former president of the New York Association of Black Journalists. President Obama Wants $1.8 Billion to Combat Zika Virus

President Obama will submit his final budget proposal to Congress on Tuesday and one of his most pressing issues is allocating funds to overcome the Zika virus. “What we now know is that there appears to be some significant risk for pregnant women and women who are thinking about having a baby,” said President Obama during an interview on Monday. He hopes the money will speed up finding a vaccine and facilitate research surrounding the purportedly related birth defect microcephaly. Experts believe the Zika virus will not largely affect our country. “For the average American, this is not something that will change our day-to-day life,” said Dr. Anne Schuchat of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “Our focus is on protecting pregnant women and trying to control the mosquito.” Read more.
