Greenwood Man Arrested for Child Sex Crimes in Clay County

CLAY COUNTY, Ind. — Indiana State Police arrested a Greenwood man for sexual misconduct with a child.

Alex C. Bow engaged in sexual misconduct with a 15-year-old girl in Clay County, close to Terre Haute.

Officers began investigating this case in March. Indiana State Police Sergeant Matt Ames explained what investigators undercovered.

“Subpoenas were issued to Facebook, which referenced direct messages exchanged between the two individuals,” Ames says. “Through those subpoenas, we were able to collect actual downloads from cell phones, showing the individuals together.”

Ames added police are always concerned about cases like these.

“We find that older gentlemen or ladies reach out to younger individuals, make them feel comfortable, and then all of a sudden, they have intimate relationships with them,” Ames explained. “That is totally against the law.

Ames urges parents to always supervise their children’s online activity to ensure their safety.

“People should be communicating with others that they actually know face-to-face on any social platform,” Ames says. “They should not talk to anyone who randomly direct messages them through Facebook, X, Snapchat, or other media platforms.”

Bow was taken to the Clay County Jail Thursday, facing several criminal charges, including sexual misconduct with a minor, child pornography, and additional charges.
