Indianapolis – A teenager drowned late Tuesday night after sneaking into a locked city pool.

It happened at the Douglass Park Youth Center at 1616 East 25th Street around 10:30 p.m.

The teenager and his friends jumped the fence to go swimming long after the pool had been closed.

At some point, 13-year-old Timothy Bray went under.

When the other boys couldn’t find him, they ran home to find an adult, who called 911.

Emergency crews pulled the boy from the water 40 minutes later, but he couldn’t be revived.

We spoke to a friend of the family who found the victim’s mother and brought her to the pool.

“This is tragic. This is very tragic.  I just hope that this shows my grandkids and other kids out here that you have to listen.  You just have to listen,” said Renee Normington.

Timothy’s body was found near the drain.  Officials say there was no problem with the drain and that the pool is up to code.

Indianapolis Metro Police Homicide was called to investigate.  However, they don’t believe foul play was involved.
