The actor accused of slaying his mother with a ceremonial sword last week says he felt powerful, like Keanu Reeves’ character in the “Matrix” films.  Speaking from the prison ward at New York’s Bellevue Hospital, Michael Brea told the “New York Daily News” he was called upon to kill the demon inside his mother, 55-year-old Yannick Brea, adding, quote, “It was the work of God.”  Brea, who once appeared on an episode of TV’s “Ugly Betty” and in the recent movie “Step It Up 3D,” told the paper, quote, “I felt like Neo from ‘The Matrix.’  I began hearing voices and feeling powerful.  They were asking about the difference between mom and mother.  It was a sign.”

Investigators believe the 31-year-old actor killed his mother with a sword he had stolen from a Masonic Temple in Harlem which he had joined a week earlier.  Police say a bloody trail of footprints and handprints led them to the bathroom of the family’s Brooklyn apartment where Yannick was discovered on her knees.  Michael was reportedly holding a sword in one hand and a Masonic Bible in his other hand.  He is reportedly undergoing a psychiatric evaluation.
