LAWRENCE, Ind.A Lawrence police officer shot a suspect Sunday night after responding to reports of an armed person in the area.

Officers arrived at the intersection of 47th Street and Richardt Avenue around 8:50 p.m. and confirmed that an officer shot the suspect after arriving on scene. Details on what led to the shooting remain unclear.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. Police have not released specific details on the suspect’s identity. Authorities believe the incident was isolated and does not pose an ongoing threat to the community.

No officers were injured during the incident
